Interior Painting in the Greater Charlotte Area

Crisp cut lines, furniture and floors properly covered, and your house put back together every evening before we leave. Meticulous prep on every surface, and a final walkthrough with Austin before we call it done.

Interior Painting in the Greater Charlotte Area

Interior paint in the Charlotte area works harder than most people expect. Air conditioning runs a good chunk of the year, spring pollen finds its way indoors no matter how careful you are, and the humidity that makes summers here what they are also slows drying and shows up as mildew in bathrooms and laundry rooms. Add ordinary life to that, kids and dogs and furniture moving through hallways, and builder grade flat paint starts looking tired several years before anyone expects it to. Brushworks Painting handles interiors from newer construction with high great room ceilings to older homes with plaster walls and real wood trim that need a gentler hand.

A good interior job is mostly the part you do not see. We mask and cover before anything opens, patch and sand until the wall is actually flat rather than merely filled, caulk the trim seams, and prime where the surface calls for it. Coatings come from Sherwin-Williams, in low VOC lines so the house stays livable while we work. Every project carries our 100% workmanship warranty.

Reasons to Look at Interior Painting

Hallways, stairwells, and the run between the garage and the kitchen wear first. Once washing a wall starts pulling the sheen off instead of cleaning it, the paint has given up and touching it up will show.

Charlotte humidity plus a room that holds steam is how mildew starts at the ceiling line. The fix is a proper clean, the right primer, and a moisture rated finish, not another coat over the top.

The warm tans and heavy accent walls of the 2000s read as old the moment a buyer walks in. Lighter neutrals make the same square footage feel bigger and brighter, which matters most in rooms with only one window.

Interior paint is the cheapest thing you can do that changes how a house photographs and how it feels at a showing. A clean, consistent palette lets people picture their own furniture in the room.

Our Standard

How We Ensure a Perfect Job, Done Right

We guide every interior painting project through a structured, multi step quality checklist.

1

Cover and Protect

Furniture moves to the middle and gets covered, floors get canvas rather than thin plastic, and trim, outlets, and fixtures are masked before a lid comes off.

2

Prep the Surfaces

We patch, sand, and caulk, then spot prime the repairs and any stains so they do not telegraph through the finish coats.

3

Cut and Coat

Lines get cut by hand at ceilings, trim, and corners, then two finish coats go on for even color and the durability the product is rated for.

4

Clean Up Daily

Tools out of the way, floors vacuumed, and rooms usable again at the end of each day. You are living here while we work and we treat it that way.

5

Walk It Together

Austin walks each room with you, marks anything you want adjusted, and handles it before the job is called finished.

What We Ask You to Prepare

We want your painting project to go as smoothly as possible. A little preparation before we arrive helps protect your belongings, gives our team better access to the surfaces we're painting, and allows us to focus on delivering the best possible finish.

  • ✓Remove pictures, artwork, mirrors, shelves, clocks, and other items hanging on walls that will be painted.
  • ✓Remove curtains, drapes, sheers, and other removable window treatments from walls being painted.
  • ✓Blinds and shades should be removed or secured if they interfere with the areas being painted.
  • ✓If you plan to put items back in the same location, you may leave existing nails or hardware in place.
  • ✓If you'd like holes or hardware removed and the walls patched, please let us know ahead of time.
  • ✓Remove or safely store fragile, valuable, or sentimental items.
  • ✓Remove items from countertops, shelves, tables, furniture, and other flat surfaces in the rooms being painted.
  • ✓Pick up items from the floor, including rugs, toys, baskets, plants, and other belongings.
  • ✓Clear cabinets, closets, and built ins if the interiors are included in the painting scope.
  • ✓Please remove valuables and fragile items from the work area.
  • ✓Move furniture at least 3 feet away from the walls, however, our team can help with heavier items.
  • ✓Smaller pieces should ideally be removed from the room completely.
  • ✓Our team will protect furniture that remains in the work area, but having the room cleared as much as possible allows us to work more efficiently and safely.
  • ✓Please make arrangements for especially oversize or delicate items that cannot be safely moved.
  • ✓Disconnect and remove electronics or wall mounted devices that may interfere with painting.
  • ✓If you disconnect anything with multiple wires or cables, please label them so they can be properly reconnected afterward.
  • ✓TVs and other large electronics should be removed or secured before our arrival. Our team does not move or disconnect large electronics.
  • ✓Please make arrangements for the safe removal of grandfather clocks, pianos, safes, or other large or delicate items.

If you will not be home during the project:

  • ✓Make sure our team has the necessary access to the property.
  • ✓Provide any required access codes or instructions to your project manager beforehand.
  • ✓Disable alarm systems or make appropriate access arrangements.
  • ✓Unlock doors, windows, or gates that need to be accessed as part of the project.
  • ✓Ensure electricity and water are available throughout the project.

We love your pets, but an active painting project can create unfamiliar surroundings, open doors, equipment, and wet surfaces.

  • ✓Keep pets safely away from active work areas.
  • ✓Dogs and cats should be secured in another room or arranged to stay elsewhere during active painting.
  • ✓Please let us know about any pets that may have access to the work area.

Please keep your home's HVAC system available during the project when possible. Maintaining reasonable temperature and airflow can help provide proper conditions for paint to dry and cure.

For peace of mind, please remove or securely store:

  • ✓Jewelry and cash
  • ✓Important documents
  • ✓Medications
  • ✓Collectibles and antiques
  • ✓Fragile or sentimental belongings
  • ✓Small electronics
  • ✓Other valuables

While we take great care to protect your home and belongings, removing valuables and delicate items is always the safest option.

For everyone's safety:

  • ✓Keep children and pets away from active work areas.
  • ✓Avoid walking through areas where paint is wet or equipment is being used.
  • ✓Please don't move ladders, tools, drop cloths, or other painting equipment.
  • ✓If you need access to an area we're actively working in, please check with our crew first.

Paint can produce odors while it is being applied and as it dries. If you are pregnant, have respiratory sensitivities, allergies, or other health concerns related to paint odors, please consider making arrangements to be away from the work area during the project.

Not Sure What You Need to Move?

Every home is different. If you're unsure whether something needs to be removed, moved, or secured before we arrive, just ask us. We're happy to help.

Interior Painting FAQs

One room is usually a day or two. A whole home interior in a typical Charlotte area house runs about four to seven working days, depending on ceiling heights, how much trim there is, and how much patching the walls need.

No. We work room by room so you keep the rest of the house, and the products we use are low VOC and low odor. Most people stay put the whole time. If you would rather have a particular room finished first so you can work or sleep in it, tell us and we will sequence it that way.

Standard repairs are part of the job: nail holes, anchor holes, hairline settling cracks, lifted drywall tape, and minor water damage once the source is fixed. Larger drywall replacement or a ceiling that needs retexturing we price separately, so you can see exactly what it is.

Rarely, and we will tell you when it will. One coat over a color change or fresh patching gives uneven color and less durability than the paint is rated for. Two coats over properly prepped and primed surfaces is what we quote.

Premium Sherwin-Williams interior lines, matched to the room. Bathrooms and laundry rooms get a moisture rated product, trim and doors get an enamel that holds up to being wiped down, and ceilings get a flat that hides roller marks.

We can match anything you already have, and a free color consultation is included if you want help. The advice we give most often is to put real samples on your own wall and look at them morning and evening, because Charlotte light through a north window and a west window are two different colors.

Furniture is moved and covered, floors get canvas drop cloths, and hardware, outlet covers, and fixtures come off or get masked rather than cut around. Everything goes back at the end of the job, and we would rather spend the extra hour on protection than explain a spill afterward.

Yes, and most interior projects include all three. Ceilings take a flat white unless you want something else, trim and doors take a durable enamel that stands up to hands and cleaning, and the lines where they meet the walls are cut by hand. Whatever you want included goes in the written scope, so nothing is a question later.
